Questions from venues
What is Yala Club?
Yala Club is a London app and ticketing platform for independent venues. People use it to find spare spots today at classes, workshops, comedy nights, gigs and more. Venues use it to sell those places, run the door and promote their events on social media.
What does it cost?
Joining is free. You pay 0% commission, just Stripe's card fee, until the last-minute window before your event: 72 hours on Spare Spots, 48 hours on Box Office. Tickets sold in that window, when your event is pushed on the Yala Club map, are 10%. Neither has a monthly fee, setup fee or contract. Customers pay a booking fee, included in the price they see, which doesn't come out of your share.
How and when do I get paid?
Payments run on Stripe. Your share goes into your own Stripe account as each ticket sells, and it's paid to your bank two days after the event. For your first 30 days on Yala Club it's seven days, while we get to know each other.
Do I have to discount my tickets?
No. You set the price. If you show your usual price, people see the saving, which helps spare spots sell. Plenty of venues list at full price when they just want to fill the last few seats.
Can I use Yala Club alongside my current ticketing?
Yes. Most venues start by listing only their spare spots on Yala Club. The door screen lets you take a place off with one tap when you sell one elsewhere, so you never oversell.
How does Yala Club make money if it's 0% commission?
From the last-minute window. In the 72 hours before your event starts (48 on Box Office), we push it on the Yala Club map and app as a last-minute event, in front of people looking for something to do that day or the next. Tickets sold in that window are charged at 10%. Everything you sell before then is commission free. Customers also pay a small booking fee, already included in the price they see.
Can I run all my ticketing on Yala Club?
Yes, on the Box Office plan. You sell every ticket for your events through Yala Club. It adds seating plans, a booking widget for your own website, a free featured spot in our Friday email to people nearby, and 0% commission right up to the last 48 hours instead of 72.
What tools do I get?
A social media kit that makes stories, videos and posters in your colours. A door screen and QR scanner that work on any phone, plus card payments at the door. Messages to everyone booked, or just to the people who haven't arrived yet. Followers who hear when you list something new. Reviews, sales reports and an export for your accountant.
What kinds of venues use it?
Independent places with something on: pottery and art studios, cookery schools, craft workshops, life drawing, fitness studios, comedy clubs, wine tastings, music venues, galleries and more.
What if a customer can't make it?
They can return their ticket before the event starts. The place goes straight back on sale, so you can sell it again.
What if I have to cancel?
Tell us in your venue account and every customer is refunded automatically and emailed. You don't have to deal with each one. The details are in the venue terms.
How is Yala Club different from Eventbrite or Ticket Tailor?
Those are ticketing tools. Yala Club does ticketing too, and adds people who are looking for something to do today, a built-in social media kit, and door tools made for small teams. Many venues use Yala Club next to the platform they already have.
Is it safe?
Card payments are handled by Stripe, which processes payments for millions of businesses. Card details never reach Yala Club, and you add your bank details on Stripe's own verified page.
